What is the difference between yoga and Pilates?

While both practices focus on moving the body with the breath, there are some major differences. Although Pilates contains several yoga like exercises, it is more uniform and considered a method. Yoga can be a bit more free-form in it's essence but still highly therapeutic for the body and mind.


What if I am dealing with an injury or chronic pain, can I do Pilates and yoga?

Yes! Pilates and yoga can significantly help reduce pain and help you safely recover from an injury. If you are brand new to either yoga or Pilates, private sessions will give you the fundamental tools to get to know your body and how it moves.


What are the benefits of incorporating Pilates, yoga, and bodywork into my life?

Studies have shown that exercise has a positive impact on our health and well-being. Flux Movement takes it beyond that helping each client build those brainbody connections by bringing mindfulness to movement. Both yoga and Pilates require focus, and thinking about your movements as you are performing them helps build neural pathways thus increasing your body awareness.  Other benefits include, increased muscle tone, flexibility, better balance, improved posture, and decreased aches and pains.
